Story Department was built by filmmakers who needed a faster and cleaner way to translate screenplays across markets.

Generic translation workflows made scripts harder to use. Dialogue tone shifted, structure broke, and teams spent hours repairing formatting before they could share a script.

We built Story Department to solve that workflow directly.

Story Department is a screenplay translation tool built for story. It preserves dramatic intent, voice, rhythm, subtext, and pacing while keeping Final Draft structure intact.

Writers can upload Final Draft FDX files, set glossary and tone rules, review key choices, and export a production ready translated FDX.

Most feature scripts translate in about 15 minutes. Pricing is a flat $59 per screenplay project with unlimited passes in the same project.

We focus on practical outcomes for writers, producers, and festival submissions: fast turnaround, readable dialogue, and clean files that open directly in Final Draft.
