Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Story Department different from generic AI translation tools?
Story Department is built specifically for narrative work. It preserves screenplay structure, character voice, and dramatic intent. Output opens directly in Final Draft as a clean FDX file with formatting intact.
How long does translation take?
Most feature length screenplays are translated in under 15 minutes, depending on length and calibration.
How much does Story Department cost?
Story Department costs a flat $59 per screenplay project. Price is shown before you confirm payment at checkout.
Do I pay per translation attempt?
No. Payment is tied to the project. You can run unlimited translation and calibration passes for the same screenplay project.
When am I charged?
You are charged when checkout succeeds. If payment is incomplete or fails, the project remains unpaid until a successful payment is confirmed.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payments are processed by Stripe and support the payment methods available in your checkout region and currency.
Do you store card numbers or full payment details?
No. Card processing is handled by Stripe. Story Department stores only transaction references and billing metadata needed for support, reconciliation, and compliance.
Can I get a receipt or invoice?
Yes. Stripe provides payment receipts, and transaction references are also available in your account project history.
What is your refund policy?
Refund requests are handled case by case. Contact hello@storydpt.com with project and payment details. We review requests within 2 business days.
How do I report a billing issue or payment dispute?
Email hello@storydpt.com with your project ID, transaction reference, and the issue summary. We can review billing records and provide supporting details for dispute resolution.
What if my payment fails or is marked pending?
If payment fails, you can retry checkout. If payment is asynchronous, project access is unlocked when Stripe confirms success.
How do taxes and VAT work?
Taxes may be applied by Stripe based on location and applicable regulations. Any tax shown at checkout is included in the final charge.
What file formats do you support?
We support Final Draft FDX files. Structure, scene numbering, and formatting are preserved throughout translation and export.
Can we lock terminology and character decisions?
Yes. You can calibrate terminology, names, tone decisions, and key lines. Locked decisions are applied consistently across the screenplay.
Is formatting preserved?
Yes. Paragraph types, scene ordering, numbering, and XML metadata remain intact across upload, translation, calibration, and export.
Do you store our scripts?
Your screenplay is stored only for account access and translation workflow. We do not sell your script data. If you delete screenplay content from your account, it is removed from active systems and purged from our servers through our deletion process.
Is our content used to train AI models?
No. Your screenplay is not used to train general purpose AI models. It is processed only to deliver your translation workflow.
Where is data processed?
We use reputable infrastructure providers with industry standard security controls. Data processing agreements are in place where required.
Do you support enterprise compliance requirements?
We support production teams that require structured workflows and clear data processing boundaries. Additional documentation is available on request.
